Our cities continue to struggle with tackling homelessness causes and Texas leaders, like Governor Greg Abbott, have not done their due diligence in addressing this public health concern. Texas ranks low on mental health access and spending, low on public safety nets, and low on health care. Abbott had six months to address the very real suffering of millions in Texans just trying to make ends meet. And he did not. Abbott continues to play to a tune of threatening cities like Austin for governing and doing what’s best for their communities, but he can’t be the mayor of Texas.
